Extra Curricular Activities
Threre are two recently released albums which feature me on a guest vocal, and they could not be more different:
In the world of exquisite fold music, there is The Works by Jonatha Brooke. It’s a collection of songs started by Woody Guthrie and finished up by Jonatha, and it’s a beautiful piece of work. I sing with her on “Sweetest Angel”. I have been a fan of her writing and singing since back in the days of her old band The Story, and will be playing a series of shows with her through the end of the year.
Then there is MC Frontalot’s new record, Final Boss, which allowed me to flex my Nerdcore muscles (small though they may be) for the first time publicly. I contributed choruses to the song Scare Goat, which celebrates the improbability of myotonic caprids. My favorite song on the record is Diseases of Yore, which the medically inclined among you must check out. I first heard of MCF from a link on BoingBoing, and he quickly went to the top of my tour playlists. We finally met up on Myspace, and the rest is history…

Cool… I lost touch with Jonatha’s music lately (i.e.- doesn’t do much for me anymore), but I’ll definitely DL that song from iTunes. And the MCF, fo’ sho’…
I look forward to the GP/JB show in Portland in November…
